Pundang Loop
_ kinetic video
installation_ 1997
Integrated in a T-shaped structure are 2 video-monitors. A motor rotates the structure endlessly. On the monitors the video is slowly panning to the right. Because the speed of the pan and the rotation of the monitors are synchronized and their direction is reversed, the video-image seems to stand still in space. The video pans without a cut from a small river in the woods through rural landscape and appartement-deserts to end in a underground parkinglot. For this work I was inspired by the big appartement-desert cities build near Seoul, which are surrounded by almost intact nature (at that time I lived in an appartement in the so-called 'new city' Pundang).
